Jürgen Karl

Chair of Energy Process Engineering

Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering
Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen-Nuremberg

In his research, Jürgen Karl focuses on the combustion and thermochemical conversion of biomass and coal, the utilization of biomass-derived syngas in fuel cells and for catalytic conversion into second generation fuels. As founder of the start-up agnion he focused not only on the technical implementation of innovative technologies, he investigated also economic and socio-economic impacts of process chains. He coordinated several European R&D projects and was co-founder of the Albertan-Bavarian Energy-Environment research network ABBY-Net.
