4th ABBY‐Net Summer School (August 10th – 17th, 2016)
The 4th ABBY‐Net Summer School took place from August 10th - 17th, 2016 at the Begegnungszentrum Ottmaring, Friedberg, Germany (~1hr from Munich). Its purpose is to train graduate students in interdisciplinary approaches to energy and ecosystem research. The school focused on resource‐management issues and the impact (broadly defined) of resource extraction on natural ecosystem functioning. Participants attended seminars on key extra‐disciplinary topics (e.g., hydrology, energy systems, environmental monitoring, data mining and analysis), and participated in field excursions designed to educate participants on local resource‐management issues. Participants were also challenged to develop interdisciplinary research proposals designed to solve practical problems related to the topics covered in the course.
